This mixed media painting is for all the artists! Perfect to sit on a shelf, windowsill or hang in the studio.
The piece is collage and layers of paint and even some gold leaf. I began with collaging vintage papers in various places on the panel, then layers of paint using a brush, gelli plate and even rubber stamps. if you look closely you will still see the vintage calendar visible behind the layers. As I was finishing the painting the words "You are the artist" were right there just begging to be highlighted. So I encircled them with the gold leaf and it was complete! The edges of the piece are finished in white as pictured in the detail photo. The piece is protected with a matte fixative to preserve the rich colors for years to come.
