Loggerhead shrike are unassuming looking little songbirds but don't be deceived..they have habits of a raptor. These guys will pounce on their prey, could be a large insect like a grasshopper, or a lizard....or something as large as a mouse or other small bird! How can they handle this kind of food, they don't have large talons or bills? The answer will surprise you, they impale their meal on a large thorn or barbed wire and come back and eat it later as it decays. Eww!
The painting measures 5" x 7" and will arrive in an archival sleeve with a certificate of authenticity ready for framing and display. (The mat shown in the product photo is for illustrative purposes only and is not included with the purchase.)
