This imaginary scene painted in watercolor is what I like to call a watercolor "snapshot".
Growing up in Nebraska we all learned about the pioneers crossing our state in their covered wagons and being so excited to see this landmark appearing on the horizon. Chimney Rock is one of those iconic Nebraska things that not many of us have actually seen because it is way way out in the western part of the state far from other towns or destinations. I am one of those who hasn't been lucky enough to see it firsthand but I AM lucky to have a good friend who took a great photo when SHE visited! This painting is my version of her visit to Chimney Rock.
My painting is 3 1/8" x 3 5/8" on watercolor paper measuring 5 1/4" x 7".
