Cattle Egret are an unusual species of egret in that they spend most of their time in fields instead of wetlands. They are common sights in Florida hanging around cattle as they graze. Cattle egrets even like to ride along on the backs of the cows, eating ticks and other insects as they go. During breeding season they sport golden plumage on their otherwise completely white bodies.
