Anhinga are fun waterbirds to watch. Much like cormorants they are sometimes called "snake birds" because when they are swimming all you see is their long snakelike neck sticking out above the water. You have to keep your eye on them because they will dive below the surface and swim quite a ways before you see them again. You may have seen Anhinga sitting on a log with their wings out to dry because interestingly enough they don't have waterproof feathers.
